Isn't It Nice..

How Pocket Blogger works so much better when blogger.com actually works? They have had some issues the last couple days, and it shows. I think stuff is kind of back to normal now though...

Also, have been getting some feedback..

some people want to be able to write posts offline and upload later - good idea! Something I will try to add in a future release.

Over 1000 Downloads

Since 03/10/2005, Pocketblogger has been downloaded over 1000 times, around 60 times a day. Pretty cool milestone, I never thought it would get downloaded that much, but I'm glad that people are using it. I know it isn't the greatest piece of software, as there could be improvements added, but thanks for trying it!

PocketBlogger and the Weekends

It seems like the last two weekends PB has had issues. This weekend, the web server hosting my web services was down. This probably was the primary issue why PB didnt work over the weekend...

I will look into any other errors

PocketBlogger v1.1 Released

Changes in version 1.1

* ability to save username/password
* ability to paste into entry screens
* get recent posts (title and date) and then edit and delete

Other notes:
paste function will paste over everything written in entry box, so it would be best to write your whole entry in another text editor if you want to go that route.

saving username/password should work, if you are having issues with that, let me know and I can look into it. the program will connect to web on start and exit to save password locally encrypted.

still no setup program, but two dll files have been added, so you need to copy the exe and the 2 dll's to the folder of your choice on your PPC for pocket blogger to work...

Is Pocket Blogger Secure?

The question "Is Pocket Blogger" secure can be answered - yes.

When you use PB, your password is encrypted on your PPC, then only unencrypted, to be encrypted again with the encryption needed to login to blogger.com and post.

Pocket IE

This is a test...it looks like blogger.com now allows you to post from pocket IE

I have a Viewsonic v37 (PPC 2002) with wi-fi and blogger.com works in pocket IE...doesn't work on my Audiovox though, which is wierd...

Atom API

Testing the Atom API, the Blogger API seems to work, but the Atom API goes in and out...

Im Stumped

Well, it looks like it all of a sudden started working, only after blogger.com went down for like 5 minutes. They must be doing something...

Things that make you go hmm....

Well, I have been troubleshooting PocketBlogger since early this morning, and it seem that the Atom API for blogger.com is goofy, all of a sudden the first time you try to login it denies you, but then if you try again it works. I will try to put a fix in so PocketBlogger keeps working

Possible Problem

When I try to use the web service directory from my server, I get this returned:

Error: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized

Even though I have my correct credentials. Blogger.com might be stopping it from posting, but I don't know why. I will keep looking into it

Errors on Posting

There have been some reports of being able to get your blogs, but not being able to post. I will look into this. I have also gotten this error recently. The only thing I can think of off hand is that I didnt expect this much traffic and my web server cant handle it..

I used PocketBlogger with no problems up until I put it up on the net, so more usage might mean timeouts. I will dig into web logs.

Tinkering

Tonight I tinkered around with PB, seeing how tough or easy adding features would be.

I am running a beta build, that allows me to save my password, and paste text into the entry screen. Im still refining the features, and I will probably have to build setup files as I need to include external assemblies.

Maybe this weekend I will try to put out a version with some added features.
